Nothing-new-under-the-sun department. You've heard about the Radio Free Asia that the U.S. government is planning to set up? Well, here is a 40-year-old veri from a station with the same name and same purpose. Radio Free Asia transmitted from the Phillipines from 1951 to 1953 with, as shown above, transmitters of 2.5 and 10 kw. The parent body was the Committee for a Free Asia, Inc., and programs originated from San Francisco. According to the 1953 WRTH, the ID was, "This is Radio Free Asia, the voice of free men speaking to freedom-lovIng peoples of Asia."
