Trans World Radio, one of the world's early religious broadcasters utilizing shortwave, actually started out as the Voice of Tangier, the location from which it operated from 1954 until 1959, the year private stations in Tangier were required to close down. The following year the station was rebranded Trans World Radio and commenced transmissions from Monaco over a 100 kw. transmitter purchased for Radio Monte Carlo and then leased back to TWR. (The Monaco station increased power to 500 kw. in 1982. TWR now transmits from Monaco only on mediumwave). In 1964 TWR opened a 250 kw. shortwave transmitter, and 500 kw. mediumwave, on Bonaire, from which it would broadcast on shortwave until 1993 (it is still on mediumwave). Another transmitter came into use in Swaziland in 1974, first at 25 kw., later 100 kw., and this was followed in 1977 by a 100 kw. station, KTWR, on Guam, from which TWR had been broadcasting on mediumwave for several years. Shortwave was added to mediumwave in Sri Lanka from 1987 to 1989, and again from 1993 to 1995. Swaziland and Guam are still on shortwave. Over the years TWR has broadcast on shortwave from many other relay locations on a leased-time basis, and on mediumwave from still others.

 "Music From Trans World Radio" - This album cover references only the Monaco and Bonaire stations, suggesting that the record was published after 1964, when Bonaire came on the air and before the 1974 start of broadcasts from Swaziland.

"Trans World Radio Presents" - This promotional record, likely issued in 1978 or 1979, featured the song "Let the Children Come" on one side, and a talk about Trans World Radio--including the voice of TWR founder Dr. Paul E. Freed--on the other.

  • TWR Bonaire Brochure - Mostly about the opening of MW in 1964, the same year they opened SW.
  • TWR Monte Carlo Brochure - This was for the start of their first MW broadcasts, which were in 1966 and were via the 400 kw. R. Monte Carlo transmitter. TWR had been on SW from Monte Carlo since 1960 via a 100 kw. transmitter that they bought for R. Monte Carlo and then leased back.
  • TWR Swaziland Brochure - Produced for their 1974 opening.
  • TWR Swaziland Brochure - This brochure was issued in Fall 1979 on the occasion of TWR-Swaziland's 5th anniversary and the inauguration of the new 100 kw. transmitter.

In 1970 the Netherlands Antilles issued two stamps commemorating Trans World Radio operations there.
